I can receive a fax, but cannot receive a call.
If the machine is set to FAX receive mode, you cannot receive a call.
You can change the receive mode from the Control Panel of the Brother machine by choosing Initial Setup and the Receive Mode menu or pressing the RECEIVE MODE key on the Control Panel. For details, please refer to the User's Guide. The latest User Guides are available in the Manuals section.
You can check what receive mode is active on the LCD display.
