When I click "Scan" in my scanning software, an error message appears: "Cannot find the scanner" or "Operation system error".

This error message appears if your scanner is not recognized by your computer.

 

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

 

  1. Make sure your scanner is connected correctly.

     

  2. Confirm that the USB cable is working and that it is not frayed or damaged in any way.

If the error still appears after verifying that the USB cable is connected correctly, reinstall the scanner driver from Brother's installation DVD-ROM.
