Sewing result of buttonhole with the buttonhole foot A+ is not good.

Possible Causes and Solutions

Symptom 1 : Thread tension is incorrect.

  • You need to choose the thread and needle appropriate for the fabric that you wish to sew.
Check the Fabric/ Thread/ Needle Combinations by reffering the Fabric/ Thread/ Needle Combinations chart.

  • You may need to change the thread tension depending on the fabric and thread being used.
Adjust the thread tension with trial sewing.

  • If the upper thread is not threaded correctly or the bobbin is not installed correctly, it may not be possible to set the correct thread tension.
Check the steps for threading the machine and rethread the upper thread and insert the bobbin correctly.

  • If the needle is bent or the point is dull, proper thread tension cannot be achieved.
Check the needle. If the needle is bent or the point is dull, replace the needle with new one.

Symptom 2 : Stitches are skipped.

  • If the needle is bent or the point is dull, stitches may be skipped.
Check the needle. If the needle is bent or the point is dull, replace the needle with new one.

  • Skipped stitches may occur depending on the fabric.
Use a ball point needle (gold colored) to prevent skipped stitches.

Symptom 3 : Fabric does not feed correctly.

  • Stitches may be too close together.
    Lengthen the stitch length setting.

  • If the buttonhole foot A+ is slanted on the fabric, the foot may not feed correctly.
When sewing thick fabrics with the buttonhole foot A+, place a piece of folded fabric or cardboard beside the fabric being sewn to level the buttonhole foot and allow for easier and even feeding.

  • When sewing thick fabric or streach fabric, that may not be correctly fed.
To attach the buttonhole stabilizer to the buttonhole foot A+ will help to feed thick fabric or streach fabric correctly.

  • Attach stabilizer material to the back of stretch fabrics to prevent them from stretching.

Symptom 4 : The buttonhole is not sewn at the correct size.

  • When sewing buttonholes for odd shaped buttons or buttons that do not fit into the button holder plate correctly, manually set the buttonhole length on the screen.

    * To active the slit length keys, press the stitch pattern editing key and then press the slit length key on the screen.
