Storing One Touch and Speed Dial numbers on my Brother machine for easy dialing

You can store One-Touch and Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine for easy dialing. If you lose electrical power, One-Touch and Speed Dial numbers stored in your Brother machine's memory will not be lost.





SECTION A: STORING ONE-TOUCH NUMBERS

Your Brother machine has 4 One-Touch keys on which you can store up to 4 fax or telephone numbers for automatic dialing.



To store One-Touch numbers, follow these steps:

  1. Press MENU/SET, 6 (Set Quick-Dial), 1 (One-Touch Dial).

  2. Press the ONE-TOUCH key on which you want to store a number.

  3. Enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.

    • The number can be up to 20 digits long.

    • You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second pause in the stored number.

      You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.


  4. Press the MENU/SET key.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • Use the dial pad to enter a name.

      The name can be up to 15 characters long.

    • If you do not want to enter a name, go to STEP 6.


  6. Press the MENU/SET key.

  7. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select the type of number you are storing.

    You can classify your stored numbers in the following ways:

    • FAX: a fax-only number

    • TEL: a voice telephone number

    • FAX/TEL: both a fax and voice telephone number

    • CHAIN: a number—such as a long-distance access code—used for chain dialing


  8. Press the MENU/SET key.

  9. Do one of the following:

    • To store another One-Touch number, repeat STEPS 2 through 8.

    • If you are finished storing One-Touch numbers, press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

SECTION B: STORING SPEED DIAL NUMBERS

You can store up to 100 2-digit Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine.



To store Speed Dial numbers, follow these steps:

  1. Press MENU/SET, 6 (Set Quick-Dial), 2 (Speed-Dial).

  2. Use the dial pad to enter the two-digit Speed Dial location on which you want to store a number.

    You can use numbers 00-99.

  3. Press the MENU/SET key.

  4. Enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.

    • The number can be up to 20 digits long.

    • You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second pause in the stored number.

      You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.


  5. Press the MENU/SET key.

  6. Do one of the following:

    • Use the dial pad to enter a name.

      The name can be up to 15 characters long.

    • If you do not want to enter a name, go to STEP 7.


  7. Press the MENU/SET key.

  8. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select the type of number you are storing.

    You can classify your stored numbers in the following ways:

    • FAX: a fax-only number

    • TEL: a voice telephone number

    • FAX/TEL: both a fax and voice telephone number

    • CHAIN: a number—such as a long-distance access code—used for chain dialing


  9. Press the MENU/SET key.

  10. Do one of the following:

    • To store another Speed Dial number, repeat STEPS 2 through 9.

    • If you are finished storing Speed Dial numbers, press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

SECTION C: CHANGING OR DELETING ONE-TOUCH NAMES OR NUMBERS

You can change or delete an existing One-Touch number by following these steps:

  1. Press MENU/SET, 6 (Set Quick Dial), 1 (One-Touch Dial).

  2. Press the One-Touch key with the number you want to change or delete.

    Your Brother machine's LCD will display the name or number stored at that One-Touch location with the message "1. Change 2. Exit."

  3. Press 1.

  4. Enter a new number:

    • To erase the entire existing number, press the STOP/EXIT key when the cursor is under the first digit.

    • To erase one character, follow these steps:

      1. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the character you want to delete.

      2. Press the STOP/EXIT key to delete the character.


    • To change a character, follow these steps:

      1. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the character you want to change.

      2. Type over the character you want to change.

        • You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second pause in the stored number.

        • You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.

  5. Press the MENU/SET key.

  6. Do one of the following:

    • Use the dial pad to enter a new name.

      The name can be up to 15 characters long.

    • To erase the entire existing number, press the STOP/EXIT key when the cursor is under the first digit.

    • To erase one character, follow these steps:

      1. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the character you want to delete.

      2. Press the STOP/EXIT key to delete the character.


    • To change a character, follow these steps:

      1. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the character you want to change.

      2. Type over the character you want to change.


    • To store the number without a name, go to STEP 7.


  7. Press the MENU/SET key.

  8. Do one of the following:

    • To change, delete, or store another One-Touch number, go back to STEP 2.

    • Press the STOP/EXIT key.

You can change or delete an existing Speed Dial number by following these steps:
  1. Press MENU/SET, 6 (Set Quick-Dial), 2 (Speed-Dial).

  2. Enter the two-digit Speed Dial location with the number you want to change or delete.

  3. Press the MENU/SET key.
