Can I transfer faxes to the PC when my machine has a mechanical problem?

You can transfer faxes from your machine's memory to your PC if one of the following messages is displayed on the LCD:

  • Init Unable XX
  • Print Unable XX
  • Scan Unable XX
  • Fuser Error


  1. If you have pressed Menu on the control panel and chosen Service => Data Transfer => Fax Transfer to see if there are faxes in the machine's memory, press Stop/Exit.
  2. Make sure you have installed MFL-Pro Suite on your PC, and then turn on PC-Fax Receiving on the PC.
  3. Make sure you have set PC Fax Receive on the machine. During setup the LCD will ask if you want to transfer the faxes to your PC.
  4. To transfer all faxes to your PC, press 1. To exit and leave the faxes in the memory, press 2.
  5. The LCD will ask if you want to use a safety feature "Backup Print".
    Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose Off, and press OK. You will not be able to use "Backup Print" until the mechanical malfunction is resolved.
  6. Press Stop/Exit.

  • If there is an error message on the LCD after the faxes have been tansferred, disconnect the machine from the power source for several minutes, and then reconnect it.
