If you are having problems receiving a fax from one specific sender, follow these steps:
Press Menu/Set.
Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Fax and press Menu/Set.
Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Miscellaneous and press Menu/Set.
Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Compatibility and press Menu/Set.
Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Normal and press Menu/Set.
Press Stop/Exit.
Have the "problem" sender send you a test fax.
If you receive the fax, the problem is solved.
If you do not receive the fax, go to STEP 8.
Have a different sender send you a test fax.
If you receive the fax, the problem is not with your Brother machine. There is likely a problem with the "problem" sender's fax machine or telephone line.
