A message appears informing to "The optical photoconductor needs to be replaced. / The paper tray is almost empty. " on my Macintosh.

This error message appears when the paper tray is almost empty or the drum unit is near the end of its life.

Make sure the loaded paper in the paper tray is below the maximum paper mark.
Replace the drum unit with a new one.
