How can I clear the "Media Error" message? 

There are several reasons why this message may appear:

  • The media card may be corrupted.
  • The media card may be improperly formatted.
  • There may be a problem with the media card.
  • The media card may not be supported.

Complete the following to confirm:

  1. Confirm the media card is supported by the machine. You can use the following media cards with this machine:

    Compact Flash®
    • Type I only
    • Microdrive™ is not compatible
    • Compact I/O card such as Compact LAN card and Compact Modem card are not supported

    SmartMedia® (3.3V)
    • Not available for use with ID


    Memory Stick®

    • Not available for music data with MagicGate™

    SecureDigital™
    XD-Picture Card™

     

  2. Take the card out and re-insert it firmly into the slot to ensure it is in the correct position.
  3. Verify the media card can be read by a digital camera or your computer.
  4. Test the media drive by inserting a different media card that you know is working.
