Uninstall the scanner drivers (OS X 10.10 or greater).
Follow the instructions below.
Remove your Brother machine from the list of available scanners
(macOS 13 or later)

Disconnect the USB cable between the Mac and your Brother machine.

Log on as an "Administrator".

Click Apple Menu and select System Settings.

Scroll and select Printers & Scanners in the left navigation bar.

Select your Brother machine from the list.

Click Remove Scanner.
When the confirmation screen appears, click Remove Scanner again.
(OS X 10.10 - macOS 12)

Disconnect the USB cable between the Mac and your Brother machine.

Log on as an "Administrator".

Click Apple Menu and select System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.

Select your Brother machine from the list.

Click the - button to remove your machine.
When the confirmation screen appears, click Delete Scanner.
Uninstall the Software and Drivers

In the Finder menu bar, click Go > Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Image Capture > Twain Data Sources.

Move to trash the [model name].ds.
When prompted, enter the Mac Administrator's password in the dialog box and then click OK.
*If you do not find [model name].ds file, go to next step.

Then, you need to delete the application.
In the Finder menu bar, click Go > Applications.

Move to trash the DSmobileCapture.
When prompted, enter the Mac Administrator's password in the dialog box and then click OK.
*If you do not find DSmobileCapture, go to next step.

Empty the trash bin.

Reboot the Mac.
