I receive an error message "No Card Writer Module Is Connected. Please Connect Card Writer Module" when I try to open Design Center or Layout & Editing?

 

  1. Check the interface cable is properly attached to the Card Writer and your PC. 

    This is usually cased by a conflict with the PC's Modem and the external serial port.

     

     

  2. Check the Card Writer is powered on prior to opening Design Center or Layout & Editing.

  3. Check on which port the modem is assigned to.

    • If the modem is assigned to COM1 assign a different port to the modem (COM1 is for the external serial port which is the default for PE-DESIGN).
    • If it's not assigned to COM1, there still may be a conflict with your IRQ settings.

  4. Remove the modem and reinstall PE-DESIGN.This will assign PE-DESIGN to COM1.

  5. Reinstall the modem which will default to a different port.
