The Brother scanner does not appear in the "Print & Fax", "Print & Scan" or "Printers & Scanners" Utility. (Mac OS X 10.4 -10.10)

Please follow the steps below to calibrate the machine and then use your own scanning software in order to use the scanner on a Macintosh system.

  1. If the scanner isn't calibrated after driver installation, calibrate the scanner. Click here to see the instructions on how to calibrate the scanner.

  2. Start your TWAIN compliant application software. The Macintosh is supplied with Image Capture software but you may use other TWAIN compliant software such as Presto! PageManager® 9.

    • For Mac OS X 10.4 - 10.10:
Run the Image Capture application. (Choose Go => Application => Image Capture.)

    • For Mac OS X 10.6 - 10.10:
Run the PageManager® 9 application. (Go => Application => Presto! PageManager 9 BR.)
If the scanned images have black lines running through them, blank spaces, or just overall bad quality after calibration, choose Quit from the menu and restart the application software. If the problem still remains, click here to see points to be checked when your scanned images have black lines running through them, blank spaces, or just overall bad quality.
