Whenever anyone attempts to leave a message, all they hear are funny sounds and eventually a high pitched squeal. Why is this happening?
The problem is that the Message Center unit is in the F/T mode and not the Message Center mode. The F/T mode will not allow any voice messages to be recorded.You must set up Message Center in the following order:
<STEP1> How to setup Message Center:
You must set up Message Center in the following order:
- Record Message Center Outgoing Message (Msg Ctr OGM).
- Press and hold Message Center or Digital TAD key until it lights to activate the Message Center mode.
<STEP2> Recording Message Center Outgoing Message:
Recording the Message Center Outgoing Message (Msg Ctr OGM) is the first step you need to follow before you can turn on the Message Center. Make sure your OGM is less than 20 seconds long.
- Press the Menu/Set key on the Control Panel.

Press the up or down navigation key until Fax appears and press Menu/Set.

Press the up or down navigation key until Setup Msg Ctr or Setup TAD appears and press Menu/Set.

Press the up or down navigation key until OGM appears and press Menu/Set.

Press the up or down navigation key until Msg Ctr OGM or TAD Message appears and press Menu/Set.

Press the up or down navigation key until Record OGM and press Menu/Set.

Pick up the handset to record a message.
For example: Hello. We are unable to take your call at this time. Please leave a message after the signal. If you wish to send a fax, please press 5 1, wait for fax tones, then press the Start button. -
Replace the handset. The Message Center will play your OGM.

Press Stop/Exit.
This is the only setting you can select if you want to turn the Message Center on.
<STEP3> Activating Message Center Mode:
Press and hold the Message Center or Digital TAD key until the button lights and the screen displays MC:Msg Ctr or TAD:MsgMgr. When Message Center or Digital TAD light is out, the Message Center is off.
