FAQs & Troubleshooting

Print an image from a memory card or USB Flash drive onto a printable disc.

Your Brother machine can print directly onto printable disc media, including CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, or Blu-ray Disc™.


You can select an image stored in a memory card or USB Flash drive.

Follow the steps below to print an image onto a printable disc:


  • You can print eight images from a movie file onto a printable disc. The images are extracted from the movie file and laid out automatically.

  • Make sure there is over 4 in. (10 cm) of free space behind the machine.

  1. Insert a memory card or USB flash drive into the appropriate slot on your Brother machine.

  2. Press Disc on the screen.

  3. Press Print from Card.

  4. Open the scanner cover and remove the Disc Tray, and then press OK.

  5. Press + or - to set the outside and inside diameters of the printable area of the disc, and then press OK.

    - Images on the memory card or USB Flash drive will appear on the machine’s display (hereinafter called LCD).

    Refer to the printable disc's package for the outside and inside deameter measurements.

  6. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to display the image you want to print on the disc, and then select the desired image.

    - A print preview will be displayed on the LCD.

  7. Adjust the image size and the position of the image you want to print, and then press OK.

    - Only the area within the frame will be printed.

    - Press image or image to change the image size.

    - Press the UP, DOWN, LEFT, or RIGHT ARROW key on the LCD to move the position of the image.

  8. To do a test print on paper, press Test Print.

    - If the Disc Guide opens, close it before performing the test print.

    - If a disc is in the Disc Tray, remove the disc.

    - Make sure Letter or A4 size paper is set in the paper tray.

    You can only use Letter or A4 size paper for a test print.

    1. Press Start.
      The machine starts printing the test image.

    2. Make sure the test print result looks correct.
      If the test print result is not correct, press image, readjust the printable area of the image, and then press OK.

  9. Enter the number of copies you want either by pressing the indicated number directly or pressing + or -.

  10. Press Print Settings, if needed.

    1. Press Print Quality, and then select the Normal or Slow Drying option.
      Use the Slow Drying option if the printout is smudged.

    2. Press OK.

  11. Press Print Disc.

  12. Push and pull down the Disc Guide to open it.

  13. Place a disc on the Disc Tray.

    - Make sure to place the disc printed surface face up on the Disc Tray.

    - Make sure there is no dirt on the Disc Tray.

  14. Insert the Disc Tray into the Disc Guide.

    - Make sure to line up the triangular mark on the Disc Tray with the one on the Disc Guide.

    Do not push the Disc Tray all the way into the Disc Guide. If you push the Disc Tray past the point where the triangular marks are aligned, it will get stuck inside the machine.

  15. Press OK.

  16. Press Start.

    - The machine starts printing on the disc.

  17. Do one of the following:

    - If you are printing only one disc, the LCD will display a message telling you that printing is finished. Go to STEP18.

    - If you are printing more than one disc, follow these steps:

    1. Remove the Disc Tray from the Disc Guide.

    2. Remove the printed disc from the Disc Tray.

    3. Put a new disc on the Disc Tray.

    4. Press OK.

    5. Press Start.

      The machine starts printing the next disc.

      Repeat STEP a thorough e for each additional disc you want to print.

      When you are finished printing, go to STEP18.

    If the printed image runs off the edge of the disc, you may need to adjust the disc print position. Click here to see the information for it.

  18. Remove the Disc Tray from the Disc Guide.

  19. Remove the disc from the Disc Tray.

  20. Close the Disc Guide.

  21. Replace the Disc Tray in the scanner cover.
