Configure the Brother machine for a wireless network using automatic wireless mode (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ or AOSS™)

If you have a LAN access point/router supporting WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™) or AOSS™ (Workstation One-Touch Secure System), you can easily connect your Brother machine to your wireless network as below.

 

To use WPS or AOSS™, your LAN access point/router must support WPS or AOSS™. Confirm your LAN access point/router has the WPS or AOSS™ symbol as shown below. For more details, refer to the instructions provided with your access point/router.

Configure the wireless settings:

 

  1. Make sure that the power cord is plugged in and the top cover is closed.
     
  2. Press Power On/Off(Power On/Off) to turn on the machine and make sure only the Ready LED (Ready) lights up.
        
  3. Press the WPS or AOSS™ button on your wireless access point/router.
        
  4. Press and hold the WiFi button on your machine for about two seconds.
                                   
  5. The machine starts the one-push wireless setting mode.
    The machine will search for a WLAN access point/router that supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup or AOSS™ for two minutes.
        
  6. If your wireless device is connected successfully, the WiFi LED lights up and the machine prints your machine's wireless status report. If the connection fails, check the error code on the printed report.

    *1The LED will blink in a pattern of ON for 0.9 seconds and then OFF for 0.3 seconds
    *2The LED will blink ON and OFF at 1.2 seconds intervals.

Wireless setup is now complete.
 

Continue to the following steps to install the printer driver for network connection. Even if you have printed with USB connection, you need to install the printer driver for network connection.
 

Installing the driver for network:
 

NOTE: The screens may differ depending on the operating system being used and your Brother machine.

  1. Make sure that your computer is ON and you are logged on with Administrator rights.
     

    If there are any programs running, close them.

     
  2. Put the installation CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
     

    If you do not have the CD-ROM:

    (Windows)
    Go to Downloads section of this website and download Full Driver & Software Package. First, follow the installation instructions on the download page. Once the installation screen appears, follow the steps from STEP c for Windows users below.
           

    (Macintosh)
    Go to Downloads section of this website and download Full Software Package. First, follow the installation instructions on the download page. Once the installation screen appears, follow the steps from STEP c for macOS 10.7 - 10.14 users below.

    If you do not find Full Software Package, download Printer Driver. Follow the installation instructions on the download page.
    If you do not find Printer Driver, download Brother iPrint&Scan from the App Store.

     

    For Windows users / For macOS 10.7 - 10.14 users

     

    For Windows users:

     

    1. The installation screen will appear automatically. If prompted, choose your model and language.
          
    2. Click Install Printer Driver, and click Yes if you accept the license agreement.

      NOTE: When the User Account Control screen appears, click Allow or Yes.

    1. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

     

    For macOS 10.7 - 10.14 users:

     

    1. Double-click the BROTHER icon on your desktop.
             
    2. Double-click Driver Download icon and web browser appears. Choose your models (if need) and download the driver.

    3. Then follow the instruction on the Downloads page to start installation.
