FAQs & Troubleshooting

Send a fax without scanning the documents into memory.

Real Time Transmission allows you to send faxes without first scanning them into memory.

When Real Time Transmission is on, you place the document in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or on the flat scanner glass and dial the fax number you want to send to. As soon as your fax line is free, your machine will dial the fax number and send the fax in real time.

You can make Real Time Transmission your default sending setting or temporarily activate it for the next fax you send.

To turn Real Time Transmission on, follow these steps:

  1. Press the FAX key to illuminate it.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Place the document you want to fax in the ADF.

    • Place the document you want to fax face down on the flat scanner glass.

  3. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW on the touch panel to display Advanced Settings.

  4. Press Advanced Settings.

  5. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW on the touch panel to display Real Time TX.

  6. Press Real Time TX.

  7. Press On.

  8. Press go back on the screen.

    • To use Real Time Transmission on for the next fax only, go to STEP 9.

    • To make Real Time Transmission your default fax setting, follow these steps:

      1. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW on the touch panel to display Set New Default.

      2. Press Set New Default.

      3. Press Yes.

      4. Go to STEP 9.

  9. Enter the fax number you want to send to.

  10. Do one of the following:

    • Press Black (Mono) Start to send a black and white fax.

    • Press Color (Colour) Start to send a color fax.
  • When you are using Real Time Transmission, the automatic redial feature will not work when you send a fax from the flat scanner glass.

  • If the machine's memory is full and you are sending a black and white fax from the ADF, the machine will send the fax in real time even if Real Time Transmission is off.

  • If the machine's memory is full, you cannot send a fax from the flat scanner glass until you clear some of the memory.
