-
Is the Brother machine directly connected to the power outlet?
- If the Brother machine's power cord is directly connected to the power outlet, unplug it from the outlet.

If the Brother machine's power cord is connected to a surge protector, power switch, or other such device, unplug it from that device.

Brother strongly recommends you connect your machine to a surge protector to protect it against power surges and lightning. Surge protectors equipped with telephone jacks will help to insulate your machine from power surges that might travel through the telephone line.
