FAQs & Troubleshooting

The message "Replace Ink – Cannot Print" is appearing on my Brother machine's LCD.

The Replace Ink – Cannot Print message means that the ink cartridge(s) indicated on your Brother machine's display (hereinafter called LCD) has reached the end of its life.

  • When the black ink cartridge has reached the end of its life, the machine will stop all print operations.
  • If one of the color(colour) ink cartridges has reached the end of its life, then you can print in Black and White Mode. Click here to see the information for the issue.
  • Black and white faxes will be stored in the machine's memory while memory is available.
  • If someone sends you a color(colour) fax, the machine will request that it be sent in black and white. If the sending machine is able to convert the fax, it will be stored in your machine's memory as a black and white fax.
  • If the Replace Ink – Cannot Print message appeared after you attempted to print a color(colour) document, press Cancel(Cancel) to cancel the print job.
  • To clear the Replace Ink message, you must replace the ink cartridge(s) indicated on your Brother machine's LCD.
