FAQs & Troubleshooting

I cannot find the Brother printer from the print list in Google Cloud Print™.

There are three possible reasons that the Google Cloud Print™ function will not find your Brother machine.

  1. Your Brother machine is not connected to a network.

  2. Your Brother machine is not compatible with the Google Cloud Print™ function.

  3. Your Brother machine is Google Cloud Print™ enabled, but your Google account information is not registered to your Brother machine.

Please follow these steps:

Step A: Connect your Brother machine to a network.

You must connect your Brother machine to a network. For details about how to connect your Brother machine to a network, please refer to the Quick Setup Guide. The latest Quick Setup Guide is available in the Manuals section of this website.

Step B: Confirm the Google Cloud Print™ function is available on your Brother machine.

You can use your PC or mobile device's web browser to confirm that Google Cloud Print™ function is available on your Brother machine. To do this, please follow these steps:

  1. Confirm that the machine is connected to the same network as the computer or mobile device.

  2. Open the web browser on your computer or mobile device.

  3. Type "http://machine's IP address/" into your browser's address bar (where "machine's IP address" is your Brother machine's IP address).

    For example:

    http://192.168.1.2/

    • You can see your machine's IP address on the control panel's network menu. For more details, please refer to the Network User's Guide.

    • If you have set the login password for the Web Based Management, enter the password in the Login box, then click Click_icon

  4. Confirm the web browser displays the following message.

    ScreenA

    • If screen (A) is displayed

      1. Click Network.

      2. Click Protocol.

If the PC displays the "Google Cloud Print" message, the Google Cloud Print™ function is available on your Brother machine. Go to Step C.

      ScreenB

    • If screen (B) is displayed

If the PC displays the "Google Cloud Print" message, the Google Cloud Print™ function is available on your Brother machine. Go to Step C.

If the PC does not display the "Google Cloud Print" message, your Brother machine is not currently compatible with the Google Cloud Print™ function. You must update your Brother machine's firmware to use the Google Cloud Print™ function.Click here to download and install the Firmware Update Tool, and update your machine's firmware.
