Send the same fax to more than one number at a time. (Broadcasting)

Broadcasting is automatically sending the same fax message to multiple fax numbers. You can include Groups, One Touch numbers, Speed Dial numbers, and up to 50 manually dialed numbers in a single Broadcast.


You cannot broadcast a color fax.

To Broadcast a fax, follow these steps:

  1. Press Fax to illuminate it.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Place the document(s) you will be faxing face up in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

    After you put your document(s) in the ADF, the Brother machine's LCD should display "ADF Ready" for a few seconds and then display the fax-sending options.
    • Place the first page you want to fax face down on the flat scanner glass.

  3. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW to display Broadcasting.

  4. Press Broadcasting.

  5. You can enter the fax numbers you want to Broadcast to in the following ways:

    - To manually enter a number, follow these steps:

    1. Press Manual.

    2. Use the buttons on the touch screen to enter a number.

      - Be sure to include 1 plus the area code and/or a pause if needed.

      - To enter a 3.5-second pause in the dialing sequence, press Pause.

      - You can press Pause as many times as needed to increase the length of the pause.

    3. Go to STEP 6.

    - To enter a One Touch or Speed Dial number, follow these steps:

    1. Press Address Book.

    2. Press image to search by alphabetical order or numerical order.

    3. Press the box next to the One Touch or Speed Dial locations to which you want to Broadcast.

      - A check will appear beside each number you want to include.

    - One Touch numbers begin with *
    - Speed Dial numbers begin with #
    1. Go to STEP 6.

  6. Do one of the following:

    • Repeat STEP 5 until you have added all the numbers you want to include in the Broadcast.

    • If you have entered all the numbers you want to Broadcast to, press OK.

  7. Press Black (Mono) Start on the Brother machine.

    • Faxing from the ADF

      The machine starts scanning and sending the document.

    • Faxing from the scanner glass

      When the LCD asks you Next Page?, do one of the following:

      • To send a single page, press No (or press Black (Mono) Start again. The machine starts sending the document.

      • To send more than one page, press Yes and place the next page on the scanner glass. Press Black (Mono) Start. The machine starts scanning the page. (Repeat this step for each additional page.)

After the Broadcast is complete, the machine will automatically print a Broadcast Report. This report will list each number that was dialed, the date and duration of the fax transmission, the number of pages sent, and whether or not the fax transmission was successful.


- If you did not use any One-Touch or Speed Dial numbers for Groups, you can Broadcast to up to 390 different numbers.


- If the memory is full, press Stop/Exit to cancel the job. If more than one page has been scanned, you can press Black (Mono) Start to send the portion of the fax that is in your Brother machine's memory.


- If a particular number is busy, the Brother machine will redial the number automatically. If there is no response from a particular number, the Brother machine will not redial it.


- The available memory will vary depending on the types of jobs in memory and the number of locations used in the Broadcast. If you Broadcast to the maximum numbers available, you will not be able to use your Brother machine's Dual Access and Delayed Faxing features.


CANCELING A BROADCAST IN PROGRESS

To cancel a Broadcast in progress, follow these steps:

  1. Press Stop/Exit.

  2. Do one of the following:

    - To cancel the entire broadcast, follow these steps:

    1. Press Entire Broadcast on the touch screen.

    2. When the LCD asks if you want to cancel the entire Broadcast, do one of the following:

      • Press Yes to confirm.

      • To exit without canceling, press No or press Stop/Exit.

    - To cancel the current job, follow these steps:

    1. Press the button that displays the number being dialed.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • To cancel the current job, press Yes.

      • To exit without canceling, press No or press Stop/Exit.
