Store numbers on my Brother machine for easy dialing.
You can set your Brother machine to do two types of auto dialing:
To store one-touch dial numbers
Your machine has 20 One-Touch keys where you can store 40 fax or telephone numbers or E-mail address for automatic dialing. To access number 21 to 40, hold down Shift as you press One-Touch.
You can store frequently used numbers as Speed-Dial numbers, so that when you dial you will only have to press a few keys: Hold down Shift as you press Search/Speed Dial, the three digit number, and then the Black Start or Color Start. The machine can store 300 Speed-Dial numbers (001 - 300).
Follow the steps below to program Speed-Dial number:

If you lose electrical power, auto-dial numbers stored in memory will not be lost.

To store one-touch dial numbers
Your machine has 20 One-Touch keys where you can store 40 fax or telephone numbers or E-mail address for automatic dialing. To access number 21 to 40, hold down Shift as you press One-Touch.
One-Touch are not the dial pad keys. They are the twenty keys (labeled 1/21 - 20/40) located on the left side of the control panel.
Follow the steps below to store a One-Touch number:
- Press Menu, 2 (Fax), 3 (Set Quick-Dial), 1 (One-Touch Dial)
- Press One-Touch where you want to store the number. your machine's display (hereinafter called LCD) shows the number you selected.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Fax/Tel, E-Mail or IFAX and then press OK.
- Choose one of the options listed below:
- If you select Fax/Tel enter the number (up to 20 characters). Press OK.
If you want to enter a pause in the dialing sequence (to wait for an outside line, for example), press Redial/Pause as you are entering digits. Pressing Redial/Pause enters a 3.5-second pause when the number is dialed, and a dash appears on the LCD. You can enter as many pauses as necessary. - If you select E-Mail or IFAX enter the E-mail address (up to 60 characters).
If you selected E-Mail and save the E-mail address, you can only use the E-mail address when you are in Scan mode. If you selected IFAX and save the E-mail address, you can only use the E-mail address when you are in Fax mode.
- If you select Fax/Tel enter the number (up to 20 characters). Press OK.
- Choose one of the options listed below:
- Enter the name using the dial pad (up to 15 characters). Press OK.
- Press OK to store the number or E-Mail address without a name.
- Enter the name using the dial pad (up to 15 characters). Press OK.
- If you want to save a fax/scan resolution along with the number, choose one of the options listed below or press OK if you do not want to change the default resolution.
- If you select Fax/Tel in step 3, press the Up or Down arrow key to select Std (standard), Fine, S.Fine (super fine) or Photo. Press OK and go to Step 8.
- If you selected E-Mail in step 3, press the Up or Down arrow key to select B/W200dpi, B/W200x100, Color150dpi, Color300dpi or Color600dpi. Press OK and go to Step 7.
- If you selected IFAX in step 3, press the Up or Down arrow key to select Std, Fine or Photo. Press OK and go to Step 8.
- If you select Fax/Tel in step 3, press the Up or Down arrow key to select Std (standard), Fine, S.Fine (super fine) or Photo. Press OK and go to Step 8.
- Choose on the options listed below:
- If you selected Black & White (B/W ) in step 6, select the file format (TIFF or PDF) that will be used to send to your PC. Press OK.
- If you selected Color in step 6, select the file format (PDF or JPEG) that will be used to send to your PC. Press OK.
- If you selected Black & White (B/W ) in step 6, select the file format (TIFF or PDF) that will be used to send to your PC. Press OK.
- Choose one of the following options:
- To store another One-Touch number go to Step 2.
- To finish storing One-Touch numbers press Stop/Exit.
- To store another One-Touch number go to Step 2.

- Enter the number (up to 20 characters) if you selected Fax/Tel. Press OK.
- Choose one of the options listed below:
- Enter the name using the dial pad (up to 15 characters). Press OK.
- Press OK to store the number or E-Mail address without a name.
- Enter the name using the dial pad (up to 15 characters). Press OK.
- If you want to save a fax/scan resolution along with the number, choose one of the options listed below or press OK if you do not want to change the default resolution.
- If you selected Fax/Tel in step 3, press the Up or Down arrow key to select Std (standard), Fine, S.Fine (super fine) or Photo. Press OK and go to Step 8.
- If you selected E-Mail in step 3, press the Up or Down arrow key to select B/W200dpi, B/W200x100, Color150dpi, Color300dpi or Color600dpi. Press OK and go to Step 7.
- If you selected IFAX in step 3, press the Up or Down arrow key to select Std, Fine or Photo. Press OK and go to Step 8.
- If you selected Fax/Tel in step 3, press the Up or Down arrow key to select Std (standard), Fine, S.Fine (super fine) or Photo. Press OK and go to Step 8.
- Choose on the options listed below:
- If you selected Black & White (B/W) in step 6, select the file format (TIFF or PDF) that will be used to send to your PC. Press OK.
- If you selected Color in step 6, select the file format (PDF or JPEG) that will be used to send to your PC. Press OK.
- If you selected Black & White (B/W) in step 6, select the file format (TIFF or PDF) that will be used to send to your PC. Press OK.
- Choose one of the following options:
- To store another Speed Dial number go to Step 2.
- To finish storing Speed Dial numbers press Stop/Exit.
- To store another Speed Dial number go to Step 2.
