Curled or wavy


Please check the following points to solve the problem.
NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative product, and may differ from your Brother machine.

  1. Check the machine's environment. Conditions such as high humidity and high temperatures may cause this print quality problem.

  2. Check that you use the paper that meets our specifications. Click here to see the details of the recommended paper.

  3. Lift up the support flap.

  4. Turn over the stack of paper in the paper tray. Also, fan the paper stack and then rotate the paper 180° in the paper tray.

  5. Choose Reduce Paper Curl mode in the printer driver.

    For Windows printer driver:

    1. Open Printing Preferences. Click here to see the details of how to open Printing Preferences.
    2. Click the Advanced tab and click Other Print Options....

    3. Choose Improve Print Output in Printer Function, and choose the Reduce Paper Curl option. Then click OK.

    4. Click Apply => OK.


    For Windows BR-Script printer driver:

    1. Open Printing Preferences. Click here to see the details of how to open Printing Preferences.
    2. Click Advanced....
    3. Choose Reduce Paper Curl for Improve Print Output in Printer Features, and click OK.

    For Mac OS X CUPS printer driver:

    1. Open the Print dialog. Click here to see the details of how to open Print dialog.
    2. Choose Print Settings from the pane pop-up menu. Click the Advanced tab and click Improve Print Output....

    3. Choose the Reduce Paper Curl option, and click OK.

    For Mac OS X BR-Script printer driver:

    1. Open the Print dialog. Click here to see the details of how to open Print dialog.
    2. Choose Printer Features from the pane pop-up menu.
    3. Choose General 2 (Set 3 for Mac OS X 10.4) for Feature Sets, and choose Reduce Paper Curl for Improve Print Output.

  6. Make sure that the media type settings in the printer driver and in the machine's Paper Type menu match the type of paper you are using.

    If the problem continues, change the setting in Media Type to a thin setting with reference to the following table. For example, if you have set the Media Type to Plain Paper, change it to Thin Paper.

  7. The drum unit or toner cartridges may not be installed correctly. Re-install the drum unit and toner cartridges.
