FAQs & Troubleshooting

The faxes I send and copies I make are completely blank.

Press Menu, 6 (Print Reports), 4 (User Settings), Start. A User Settings report will print.
Press Stop/Exit.
- If the report prints blank, click here to see how to solve the issue.
- If the User Settings report prints out okay, continue to STEP 3.
Make an ADF (automatic document feeder) copy of the User Settings report.
1. Lift up and unfold the ADF document output support flap (1). Unfold the ADF document support (2).
2. Press COPY on the control panel. The button should light up blue when pressed.
3. Place the User Settings report face up in the ADF. You may need to adjust the paper guides (1) to fit the width of the report.
  
  After you put your document(s) in the ADF, the Brother machine’s LCD should display “ADF Ready” for a few seconds. If it does not, pull out the document and load it again.
4. Press Start. The machine will make a copy of the User Settings report.
  - If the copy of the User Settings report prints out okay, close the ADF document output support flap and the ADF document support and continue to STEP 4.
  - If the copy of the User Settings report prints out blank, place the User Settings report face up in the ADF again. Make certain that the printed side of the report is on top. Make another copy.
    - If the copy of the User Settings report prints out okay, close the ADF document output support flap and the ADF document support and continue to STEP 4.
    - If the copy of the User Settings report prints out blank, contact Brother Customer Service form "Contact Us".
Make a document scanner glass copy of the User Settings report.
1. Lift the document cover.
2. Using the document guidelines on the left and top, place the User Settings report face down in the upper left corner of the scanner glass.
3. Close the document cover.
4. Press COPY on the control panel. The button should light up blue when pressed.
5. Press Start. The machine will make a copy of the User Settings report.
  - If the copy of the User Settings report prints out okay, the issue is resolved.
  - If the copy of the User Settings report prints out blank, make certain that the printed side of the report is facing down. Make another copy.
    - If the copy of the User Settings report prints out okay, the issue is resolved.
    - If the copy of the User Settings report prints out blank, contact Brother Customer Service form "Contact Us"
