FAQs & Troubleshooting

Why is the error message "Unable to Scan" displayed on the LCD when I try the 2-sided(duplex) copy, 2-sided(duplex) scan or fax send of a legal size document?

The error message "Unable to Scan" appears when document is too long for 2-sided(duplex) scanning.

A suitable document size for 2-sided(duplex) scanning, 2-sided(duplex) copying and 2-sided(duplex) faxing from the ADF is as follows.

  • Width: 5.8 to 8.5 in. (148.0 to 215.9 mm)
  • Height: 5.8 to 11.7 in. (148.0 to 297.0 mm)
Therefore a 2-sided legal size document (8.5 x 14 in. (215.9 x 355.6 mm)) is not available for 2-sided(duplex) scanning, 2-sided(duplex) copying and 2-sided(duplex) faxing from the ADF. Please use the scanner glass to scan a 2-sided legal size document.
