I installed the LT-400 optional tray. I use letter size paper in Paper Tray #1 and legal size paper in Paper Tray #2 (LT-400). How do I program the Brother machine to select the correct paper tray when copying a legal size document?


  1. Verify the tray #2 is ON:

    1. Press Menu, 1, 5.
    2. Press the right or left arrow key to select ON.
    3. Press Set.
    4. Press Stop/Exit.

  2. Set the paper size for the paper tray:

    1. Press Menu, 1, 1.
    2. Press 1 to select "Cassette #1".
    3. Press the right or left arrow key to select the correct paper size (letter).
    4. Press Set.
    5. Press 2 to select "Cassette #2".
    6. Press the right or left arrow key to select the correct paper size (legal).
    7. Press Set.
    8. Press Stop/Exit.

  3. Set the tray usage for Copy:

    1. Press Menu, 1, 1, 3.
    2. Press 2 for "FOR COPY".
    3. Press the right or left arrow key to select AUTO.
    4. Press Set.
    5. Press Stop/Exit.

    To copy a legal size document:

    1. Place the document in the ADF (automatic document feeder).
    2. Press the Enlarge/Reduce key and the display will show 100%.
    3. Continue to press the Enlarge/Reduce key or the right or left arrow key until the display shows AUTO.
    4. Press Set.
    5. Press Copy.
