Replace Reverse Roller

The message Replace Reverse Roller indicates that the Reverse Roller needs to be replaced with a new one.

 

Your machine is equipped with a scan counter that automatically counts how many times the machine has scanned. When the machine scans 200,000 times, the machine will display the message Replace Reverse Roller on the Status Monitor to remind you to replace the Reverse Roller.

Your Brother machine will have an issue scanning documents if you do not replace the Reverse Roller.

Follow the steps below to replace the Reverse Roller.

NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.

 

  1. Open the Front Cover (1).
    Open the Front Cover
  2. From the back of the machine, pinch the both sides of the Reverse Roller Cover (1) and pull the Cover down.

  3. To remove the Reverse Roller, grab its shaft and pull it toward you and out to the right (1).

  4. Slide the new Reverse Roller (1) into the opening on the left and place it into the machine.

  5. Close the Reverse Roller Cover.
  6. Close the Front Cover.
  7. Reset the counter. Follow the steps below to reset the Reverse Roller Counter.

 

Reset the Reverse Roller Counter

When you replace the Reverse Roller with a new one, you need to reset the Reverse Roller Counter by completing the following steps:

NOTE: The screens may differ depending on operating system being used and your Brother machine.

 

Reset the Reverse Roller Counter only when you replaced the Reverse Roller with a new one.

(Windows)
  1. Open the ControlCenter.
    • Brother Utilities supported models
      1. Open Brother Utilities.
        • Windows 7 / 10
          Click Start or Start(Start) > (All Programs or All apps >) Brother > Brother Utilities.
        • Windows 8
          On the Start screen, click Start.
          If  is not  on the Start screen, right-click somewhere on an empty spot, and then click, All Apps from the bar.
          Click Brother Utilities.
      2. Select Scan.
      3. Click ControlCenter4.
    • Brother Utilities unsupported models
      Click Start(Start) > All Programs > Brother > [model name] > ControlCenter4.
  2. Do one of the following:

    [Home Mode]
    Click the Device Settings tab.
    Device Settings
    [Advanced Mode]
    Click the Settings(Settings) icon to access Device Settings.

  3. Click the Remote Setup button. The Remote Setup window appears.
  4. Select Machine Info. in the folder tree.
    To reset the counter for the Reverse Roller, check the Reverse Roller check box for Reset Counter for Consumables.

  5. Click OK.

 

(macOS 10.8 - 10.13)
  1. Open the ControlCenter.
    To open the ControlCenter2 application, click Go from the Finder bar, Applications > Brother > ControlCenter. Double click the ControlCenter.
    The ControlCenter will open and an icon will be placed in the dock.
  2. Click the DEVICE SETTINGS tab and then click the Remote Setup button. The Remote Setup window will appear.

  3. Select Machine Info. in the folder tree. To reset the counter for the Reverse Roller, check the Reverse Roller check box for Reset Counter for Consumables.

  4. Click OK.
