If you are having problems receiving color faxes, do the following:
Make sure the sender's fax machine is capable of sending color faxes, and that he or she is sending the color fax correctly.
If your Brother machine's modem speed is set to Basic (for VoIP), change it. When you use the Basic (for VoIP) setting, the machine will receive all faxes in black and white. For more information click here.
If your Brother machine's LCD reads Cannot Print - Replace Ink or Cannot Print - B&W Print Only, replace the indicated cartridge(s) and ask the sender to resend the color fax.
If someone sends you a color fax while your Brother machine's LCD reads Cannot Print - Replace Ink, your machine's "handshake" will request that the fax be sent in black and white. If there is memory available on your Brother machine and the sending machine can convert the color fax, it will be stored in your Brother machine's memory as a black and white fax. For more information click here.
If someone sends you a color fax while your Brother machine's LCD reads Cannot Print – B&W Print Only, your machine's "handshake" will request that the fax be sent in black and white. If your machine's paper type is set to Plain Paper or Inkjet Paper and the sending machine can convert the color fax, your machine will receive and print the fax in black and white.
