FAQs & Troubleshooting

I can't turn off my Brother machine.

You should not unplug the machine when it is not in use.  When the machine is off, it will still periodically clean its print head to maintain print quality.  To prolong the length of the print head, provide better ink efficiency, and maintain print quality, you should keep your machine plugged in at all times.

If you are unable to turn off the machine by pressing  and holding Power key , follow these steps:

  1. Check the machine's display (hereinafter called LCD) for an error or status message.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • If an error or status message appears on the LCD, refer to the solution that addresses the message.
    • If no error or status message appears on the LCD, go to Step 3.
  3. Press keys on the control panel to see if they respond.

    • For example, if you press the Menu key, the LCD should display menu options.  If you press the Hook key, you should hear a dial tone, provided your telephone cord connections are correct and your speaker volume is on.
    • If the keys do not respond or the machine triple-beeps when you press them, go to Step 4.
  4. Gently massage each key on the control panel in a circular motion to dislodge any stuck keys.

    • You should perform this step even if none of the keys appear to be stuck.
  5. After massaging each key, press and hold Power key to try and turn off the machine.
