FAQs & Troubleshooting

I'm having problems receiving faxes from one particular number.

  • If you are experiencing problems receiving faxes from all senders, click here.

  • If you are having problems receiving a fax from one specific sender, follow these steps:

    *If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps under "For touchscreen models" below.

    1. Press Menu.

    2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Initial Setup.

    3. Press OK.

    4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Compatibility.

    5. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to choose Normal.

    6. Press OK.

    7. Press Stop/Exit.

    8. Have the "problem" sender send you a test fax.

      • If you receive the fax, the problem is solved.

      • If you do not receive the fax, go to STEP 9.

    9. Have a different sender send you a test fax.



    <For touchscreen models>

    1. Press Menu on the screen.

    2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW to display Initial Setup.

    3. Press Initial Setup.

    4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW to display Compatibility.

    5. Press Compatibility.

    6. Press Normal.

    7. Press Stop/Exit.

    8. Have the "problem" sender send you a test fax.

      • If you receive the fax, the problem is solved.

      • If you do not receive the fax, go to STEP 9.

    9. Have a different sender send you a test fax.
