How do I make my faxed documents lighter or darker? (Fax Contrast)
If you are faxing a document that is very light or very dark, you may want to change the machine's contrast setting.

The machine's default contrast setting of Auto is suitable for most documents.

Choose Light when sending a light document.

Choose Dark when sending a dark document.
Click the following steps applicable for your case:
To change the contrast of your next sent fax, follow these steps:

Place the first page you want to send face down in the upper-left corner of the flat scanner glass.

Press (Fax).
-
Press Options.
-
Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Contrast.

Press Contrast.
-
Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Auto, Light, or Dark.
-
Press Auto, Light, or Dark.
-
Press OK.
-
Dial a fax number.
-
Press Fax Start.
Even if you choose
Light or
Dark, the machine will send the fax using the
Auto setting in the following situations:
-
When you send a color fax.
-
When you choose Photo as the Fax Resolution setting.
To change the Brother machine's default fax contrast setting, follow these steps:

Press (Fax).

Press Options.
-
Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Contrast.

Press Contrast.
-
Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Auto, Light, or Dark.

Press Auto, Light, or Dark.
-
Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Set New Default.

Press Set New Default.
-
Press OK.
-
Press Yes.
-
Press (Home).
Even if you choose
Light or
Dark, the machine will send the fax using the
Auto setting in the following situations:

When you send a color fax.
-
When you choose Photo as the Fax Resolution setting.
