How do I clear the message "DR Mode in Use" from my Brother machine's LCD?

The message "DR Mode in Use" indicates that your Brother machine's Distinctive Ring feature is currently on.  When Distinctive Ring is on, your Brother machine is automatically put in Manual Mode.  You cannot change your Brother machine's Receive Mode until you turn Distinctive Ring off.

Follow these steps to turn your Brother machine's Distinctive Ring feature off:

  1. Press MENU, 2 (Fax), 0 (Miscellaneous), 2 (Distinctive).
  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Off.
  3. Press the OK key.
  4. Press the STOP/EXIT key.

If you turn Distinctive Ring off, your Brother machine will still be in Manual Mode.  You will need to select the correct Receive Mode for your line setup.
