In Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, the printer icon remains in the Dock after printing. How do I remove the printer icon from the Dock and keep it from returning?

When you print, an icon for your printer appears in the Dock and remains until you log out, restart, or shut down. If you do not want printer icons to remain in the dock, you can have them removed automatically when printing is finished.

To automatically remove printer icons from the Dock after printing:

  1. Click on the printer icon in the Dock and hold for a few seconds. A list of options will appear.
  2. Choose Auto Quit from the list.
