Storing One Touch and Speed Dial numbers on my Brother machine for easy dialing
You can store One-Touch and Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine for easy dialing. If you lose electrical power, One-Touch and Speed Dial numbers stored in your Brother machine's memory will not be lost.
- To enter a new One Touch number, go to SECTION A: STORING ONE-TOUCH NUMBERS.
- To enter a new Speed Dial number, go to SECTION B: STORING SPEED DIAL NUMBERS.
- To change or delete an existing One-Touch number, go to SECTION C: CHANGING OR DELETING ONE-TOUCH NAMES OR NUMBERS.
- To change or delete an existing Speed Dial number, go to SECTION D: CHANGING OR DELETING SPEED DIAL NAMES OR NUMBERS.
SECTION A: STORING ONE-TOUCH NUMBERS
Your Brother machine has 4 One-Touch keys on which you can store up to 4 fax or telephone numbers for automatic dialing.
To store One-Touch numbers, follow these steps:
- Press MENU/SET, 6 (Set Quick-Dial), 1 (One-Touch Dial).
- Press the ONE-TOUCH key on which you want to store a number.
- Enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.
- The number can be up to 20 digits long.
- You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second pause in the stored number.
You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.
- The number can be up to 20 digits long.
- Press the MENU/SET key.
- Do one of the following:
- Use the dial pad to enter a name.
The name can be up to 15 characters long.
- If you do not want to enter a name, go to STEP 6.
- Use the dial pad to enter a name.
- Press the MENU/SET key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select the type of number you are storing.
You can classify your stored numbers in the following ways:
- FAX: a fax-only number
- TEL: a voice telephone number
- FAX/TEL: both a fax and voice telephone number
- CHAIN: a number—such as a long-distance access code—used for chain dialing
- FAX: a fax-only number
- Press the MENU/SET key.
- Do one of the following:
- To store another One-Touch number, repeat STEPS 2 through 8.
- If you are finished storing One-Touch numbers, press the STOP/EXIT key.
- To store another One-Touch number, repeat STEPS 2 through 8.
SECTION B: STORING SPEED DIAL NUMBERS
You can store up to 100 2-digit Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine.
To store Speed Dial numbers, follow these steps:
- Press MENU/SET, 6 (Set Quick-Dial), 2 (Speed-Dial).
- Use the dial pad to enter the two-digit Speed Dial location on which you want to store a number.
You can use numbers 00-99.
- Press the MENU/SET key.
- Enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.
- The number can be up to 20 digits long.
- You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second pause in the stored number.
You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.
- The number can be up to 20 digits long.
- Press the MENU/SET key.
- Do one of the following:
- Use the dial pad to enter a name.
The name can be up to 15 characters long.
- If you do not want to enter a name, go to STEP 7.
- Use the dial pad to enter a name.
- Press the MENU/SET key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select the type of number you are storing.

SECTION C: CHANGING OR DELETING ONE-TOUCH NAMES OR NUMBERS
You can change or delete an existing One-Touch number by following these steps:
- Press MENU/SET, 6 (Set Quick Dial), 1 (One-Touch Dial).
- Press the One-Touch key with the number you want to change or delete.
Your Brother machine's LCD will display the name or number stored at that One-Touch location with the message "1. Change 2. Exit."
- Press 1.
- Enter a new number:
- To erase the entire existing number, press the STOP/EXIT key when the cursor is under the first digit.
- To erase one character, follow these steps:
- Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the character you want to delete.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key to delete the character.
- Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the character you want to delete.
- To change a character, follow these steps:
- Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the character you want to change.
- Type over the character you want to change.
- You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second pause in the stored number.

- Press the MENU/SET key.
- Do one of the following:
- To change, delete, or store another One-Touch number, go back to STEP 2.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
- To change, delete, or store another One-Touch number, go back to STEP 2.
SECTION D: CHANGING OR DELETING SPEED DIAL NAMES OR NUMBERS
You can change or delete an existing Speed Dial number by following these steps:
- Press MENU/SET, 6 (Set Quick-Dial), 2 (Speed-Dial).
- Enter the two-digit Speed Dial location with the number you want to change or delete.
- Press the MENU/SET key.
Your Brother machine's LCD will display the name or number stored at that Speed Dial location with the message "1. Change 2. Exit."
