When Adobe® Acrobat® 5.0 and PaperPort® are installed on the same Windows 2000 system, launching PaperPort® produces one of these errors: - Paprport.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. - Paperport.exe Application Error. The instruction at "0x6063a39c" referenced memory at "x025583e3" The memory could not be "read".

Please follow these steps to install a patch file that will resolve this problem:

  1. Exit the PaperPort® software.

  2. Download the patch and save it to your Windows Desktop.

  3. After the download completes, install the patch onto your system by double clicking the file on your Windows Desktop.

  4. Restart your computer.

  5. Open PaperPort®.

  6. After about a minute, the correct link to Adobe® Acrobat® 5.0 will appear in the PaperPort® Link Bar and the problem should be resolved.
