Scan a document in OS X 10.8/macOS 10.12 - 10.15.
You can scan a document using one of the following methods:
NOTE: The screens may differ depending on operating system being used and your Brother machine.
- Using the Image Capture application
- Scanning directly from the "Print & Scan" or "Printers & Scanners" section
Method 1: Using the Image Capture application
In order to use Image Capture included with Macintosh OS X 10.8 or later, the ICA Scanner Driver is required.
The Brother Scanner Driver (CUPS Printer Driver for some models) for OS X 10.8 contains the ICA Scanner Driver.
The Scanner Driver for OS X 10.9 or later contains the ICA Scanner Driver.
To install the ICA Scanner Driver, please install the Scanner Driver or CUPS Printer Driver.
Follow the steps below:
- Connect your Brother machine to the Macintosh using a USB cable. Or connect your Brother machine to the same LAN (if you are using a network model) where the Macintosh is connected.
-
Launch the Image Capture application. (Choose Go => Application => Image Capture.)
-
Choose the machine from the list on the left side of the screen.
Hint:
If you connected the Brother machine and your Macintosh with a USB cable, you will see the machine in the DEVICES area. If connected via LAN, you will see it in the SHARED area.
