FAQs & Troubleshooting

"Cooling Down" is displayed on my Brother machine's display and the machine stops printing or copying documents.

Laser products use heat for printing and copying documents. When the machine prints or copies many pages then internal parts will become extremely hot, and the Cooling Down message will be displayed. It will stop printing or copying documents until enough time has passed for the internal parts to have cooled down. Leave the machine turned on for more than an hour.

The machine may be able to print or copy documents sooner than an hour since it stopped printing or copying documents. But it will stop printing or copying as soon as the internal parts of the machine become hot again.

This issue may be resolved by updating the firmware to the latest version. Click here to download the Firmware Update Tool and see more information in the Downloads section to update the firmware.
