How do I connect the printer to my mobile device via Bluetooth®?
Follow the procedure below to pair the printer with your mobile device:
- Turn on the printer.
- Press Menu.
- Press or to select [Bluetooth], and then press OK.
- Press or to select [Bluetooth (On/Off)], and then press OK.
- Press or to select [On], and then press OK.
- The Bluetooth icon ( ) appears on the LCD.

Use your mobile device to display the list of nearby Bluetooth® accessories that your device can pair with.

For Apple devices (iPad / iPhone / iPod touch)
- From the home screen of your Apple device, tap [Settings] - [Bluetooth].
- Slide the toggle button to the [On] position.

For Android™ devices
- From the home screen of your Android™ device, tap - [Settings] - [Bluetooth].
- Slide the toggle button to the [On] position.

For Apple devices (iPad / iPhone / iPod touch)

Select your printer's model name and, if required, enter the passkey (PIN code).
When the printer is connected to your mobile device successfully, the Bluetooth® icon ( ) changes to ( ).
- You can change the printer’s network settings by connecting the printer to a computer and using the Printer Setting Tool. (See the FAQ: "Using the Communication settings (for Windows)".)

The default SSID and password are as follows:
SSID: "DIRECT-*****_TD-4550DNWB" where ***** is the last five digits of the product serial number.
The password: 455***** where ***** is the last five digits of the product serial number.
It may take several minutes until the connection is finished. - To find the product serial number, see the FAQ: "Where can I find my Brother printer's serial number?".
- Bluetooth® connection setting is saved even when the printer is turned off.

If you are using an Apple device, Bluetooth® may disconnect when your mobile device is far apart from the connected printer.
Move close to the printer and select [Bluetooth] from the settings of your Apple device, tap the device you want to connect to from the list of Bluetooth® devices, and then connect it again.
