Store numbers on my Brother machine for easy dialing.
You can store One Touch and Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine for easy dialing. If you lose electrical power, One Touch and Speed Dial numbers stored in your Brother machine's memory will not be lost.
- To enter a new One Touch number, go to SECTION A: STORING ONE TOUCH NUMBERS.
- To enter a new Speed Dial number, go to SECTION B: STORING SPEED DIAL NUMBERS.
SECTION A: STORING ONE TOUCH NUMBERS
Please check the number of One Touch keys located on the left side of the control panel on your Brother machine.
- If the number of One Touch keys is 8:
You can store up to 16 fax numbers or telephone numbers for automatic sending.
- If the number is 20:
You can store up to 40 fax numbers or telephone numbers for automatic sending.
To store One Touch numbers, follow these steps:
- Press the ONE TOUCH key on which you want to store a number.
- If the number of One Touch keys is 8:
To access One Touch numbers 9 through 16, hold down the SHIFT key and press the appropriate One Touch key.
- If the number is 20:
To access One Touch numbers 21 through 40, hold down the SHIFT key and press the appropriate One Touch key.
- If the number of One Touch keys is 8:
- Press 1.
- Use the dial pad to enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.
- The number can be up to 20 digits long.
- You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second (for UK: 2.8-second) pause in the stored number.
You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.
- The number can be up to 20 digits long.
- Press the OK key.
- Do one of the following:
- To store the number without a name, go to STEP 6.
- Use the dial pad to enter a name.
The name can be up to 15 characters long.
- To store the number without a name, go to STEP 6.
- Press the OK key.
- Do one of the following:
- If you do not want to change the default fax resolution setting, go to STEP 8.
- If you want to save a fax resolution setting with the number, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose STD, FINE, S. FINE, or PHOTO.
- If you do not want to change the default fax resolution setting, go to STEP 8.
- Press the OK key.
- Do one of the following:
- To store another One Touch number, repeat STEPS 1 through 8.
- To finish storing One Touch numbers, press the STOP/EXIT key.
- To store another One Touch number, repeat STEPS 1 through 8.
SECTION B: STORING SPEED DIAL NUMBERS
You can store up to 300 3-digit Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine.
To store Speed Dial numbers, follow these steps:
- Do one of the following:
- If your Brother machine has the SEARCH/SPEED DIAL key on its control panel:
- Press and hold the SHIFT key.
- Press the SEARCH/SPEED DIAL key.
- Release the SHIFT key.
- Press and hold the SHIFT key.
- If not:
Press the DOWN ARROW key (Phone Book).
- If your Brother machine has the SEARCH/SPEED DIAL key on its control panel:
- Use the dial pad to enter the three-digit Speed Dial location on which you want to store a number.
You can use numbers 001-300.
- Press 1.
- Use the dial pad to enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.
- The number can be up to 20 digits long.
- You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second (for UK: 2.8-second) pause in the stored number.
You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.
- The number can be up to 20 digits long.
- Press the OK key.
- Do one of the following:
- To store the number without a name, go to STEP 7.
- Use the dial pad to enter a name.

- Press the OK key.
- Do one of the following:
- To store another Speed Dial number, repeat STEPS 1 through 9.
- To finish storing Speed Dial numbers, press the STOP/EXIT key.
- To store another Speed Dial number, repeat STEPS 1 through 9.
