How do I set up my Brother machine's built-in Message Center?

The Brother machine has a built-in digital Message Center (TAD) that allows you to store up to 99 incoming voice messages or fax messages. Messages are stored in the order in which they are received. Voice messages can be up to 3 minutes in length. The number of messages you can store will depend on how much memory is being used by other features (for example, delayed and stored faxes).

You must set up the Message Center (TAD) in the following order:

  1. Recording the Message Center (TAD) Outgoing Message

    1. Press Menu.
    2. Select Fax => Setup Msg Ctr or Setup TAD => OGM.
    3. Select Msg Ctr OGM or TAD Message.

This is the ONLY setting you can choose if you want to enable the Message Center (TAD). Do not select F/T OGM or F/T Message.

    1. Select Record OGM or Record MSG, press OK.
    2. Record your outgoing message:
      • If your Brother machine has Digital Cordless Handset (DECT™ Handset),
speak clearly toward the microphone  on the control panel to record your message. Press Stop/Exit when finished recording your message. The Message Center (TAD) will play back your outgoing message.

      • If not, pickup the handset and record your message. Replace the handset when finished recording your message. The Message Center (TAD) will play back your outgoing message.

For example: "Hello. We are unable to take your call at this time. Please leave a message after the signal. If you wish to send a fax, please press the Start button."

Your outgoing message should be less than 20 seconds long.

    3. Press Stop/Exit to exit the menu.

  2. Activating Message Center (Digital TAD) Mode
To activate the Message Center (TAD) Mode press .
Then it is illuminated and the LCD reads: "MC: Msg Ctr" or "TAD".
