I got a "*.PES" file from a friend, but the characters (TTF) in the pattern are different from the characters my friend used in the pattern.

Your friend used True-Type font (TTF), and you do not have True-Type font installed. In this case, your system's Layout & Editing function selects a similar font installed in your computer.
