I have a telephone answering device (TAD) on the same line as my FAX. Is necessary to record a 5 second pause before my outgoing message begins?

We recommend beginning you outgoing message with an initial 5-second silence because the FAX may not hear fax tones over a resonant or loud voice. You may try omitting this pause but if your FAX has trouble receiving faxes you should rerecord the outgoing message to include pause.
