What do the indicator lights mean?

The indicators light and blink to indicate the printer's status.
The following symbols are used in this FAQ to explain the meaning of the different indicator colors and patterns.

 

green is lit or orange is lit or blue is lit or red is lit

[Solutions]

Condition
Solution
The DK Roll Compartment Cover is open. Close the DK Roll Compartment Cover correctly.
The printer is in Cooling mode.

If the orange light flashes at 0.5 second intervals, the printer is in Cooling mode.

Wait until the Status LED stops flashing, and then print again.

Data overwrite mode Wait until the Status LED stops flashing.
The printer is in Boot mode. Turn OFF the printer power and then turn it ON again. If the error is not resolved, contact Brother Customer Service.
Roll end error Replace the DK Roll with a new one. If a sufficient amount of the roll remains, re-install it correctly. (Make sure the paper passes through under the sensor.)

No media error

Load the DK Roll.

Wrong media error

Load the correct DK Roll.

→ Refer to the FAQ: "How do I install/change the label roll?"

Feed error

- Insert the end of the DK Roll correctly. (Make sure that the paper goes through under the sensor.) 
→ Refer to the FAQ: "How do I install/change the label roll?"
 

- Is there a sufficient amount of the roll remaining? If not, replace the DK Roll with a new one.

Cover open error Close the DK Roll Compartment Cover tightly.
BLF file error

- Confirm that the model supports .blf files, and then transfer the data again.
 

- When sending a template as a .blf file, make sure that the model name is correct in file and then transfer the data again.

JPG file error Confirm the size of .jpg files, and then transfer the data again.
Communication cmd error A command outside the specifications or corrupted data was transferred. Reconfirm the command and data, and then send them again.
Memory full error The volume of data is too large to send with the ESC/P command. Adjust the data and send again.
ESC/P memory full error The data size to send with the ESC/P command is too large. Adjust the data and send it again.
USB host memory full error Try transferring the barcode again after a short time.
Database search error

When printing the template to which the database is linked, the search string was not entered or the searched string was not found.
If transferring the template with a search character string, be sure to enter the character string.

No template error

- There is no database with the specified number.

→ Specify a correct number.

 

- The search for a template with a linked database fails.
→ Select the correct template and then print again.

Access point search error

- The access point could not be found.
→ Try to connect again.
 

- An access point for establishing a connection could not be specified.
→ Confirm the WPS setting environment (distance between the access point and the printer, presence of obstructions, and so on) for the access point, and then configure the WPS settings for the printer again.

Access point connection error If you are using two or more access points, reduce the number of access points to one, and then connect the printer again.
Security error Configure the wireless LAN settings using WPS again.
Cutter error Do not open the DK Roll Compartment Cover when the cutter is operating. To clear this error, press any button.
Mass storage error The file system becomes corrupted or a file is copied while a mass storage file is being processed. Turn off the printer and then turn it on again.
USB host power supply excessive voltage error

Replace the USB host with another one that is compliant.

This printer is compatible with HID-class USB devices.

USB host unsupported device connection error
USB host HUB connection error Disconnect the USB hub.
System error Turn off the printer and then turn it on again. If the error is not resolved, contact Brother Customer Service.
