FAQs & Troubleshooting

When I try to send a fax the message "FAX # Restricted" appears on the display.

The Fax # Restricted message will appear if you try to send a fax or more an outbound call while the Brother machine's Dial Restrict feature is On.

Dial Restrict is included with the Brother machine to prevent users from sending a fax or calling a wrong number by mistake. You can set the machine to restrict dialing from the dial pad, One Touch numbers, Speed Dial numbers, or LDAP search.

There are three settings available for this feature:

Off:

If you choose Off, the machine does not restrict any dialing method.

Enter # Twice:

If you choose Enter # Twice, the machine will prompt you to re-enter the number, and then if you re-enter the same number correctly, the machine will start dialing. If you re-enter the wrong number, the LCD will display the message Fax # Restricted.

On:

If you choose On, the machine will restrict all fax sending and outbound calls.
