When I print directly from the USB flash drive only an error page prints. What can I do?

Depending on the original source and how a file is created some files may not be supported when printing directly from a USB flash drive.

 

 

 

One of the error messages below is printed on the error page.

  • Unsupported PDF data for Direct Print: [error code]
  • Unsupported TIFF data for Direct Print: [error code]
  • Unsupported JPEG data for Direct Print: [error code]

 

 

 

 

 

Listed below are the various error codes and recommended solutions for each error.

Error Code 100

 

Cause Recommended solution
  • Unsupported JPEG file
     
  • Corrupted JPEG file
     
  • Corrupted USB flash memory
  1. Save the file using the "Print to file" feature of the Brother printer driver, to a USB flash drive using a PC. (To see how to use the "Print to file" feature, click here.) Then, print the document from the USB flash drive.
     
  2. Print the document directly from a computer.

 

 

 

Error Code 200

 

 

 

Cause Recommended solution
  • Unsupported TIFF file
     
  • Corrupted TIFF file
     
  • Corrupted USB flash memory
  1. Save the file using the "Print to file" feature of the Brother printer driver, to a USB flash drive using a PC. (To see how to use the "Print to file" feature, click here.) Then, print the document from the USB flash drive.
     
  2. Save the TIFF file as a PDF or JPEG file using another software application.
     
  3. Print the document directly from a computer.

 

 

 

Error Code 1011 - 1014

 

 

 

Cause Recommended solution
  • Unsupported security format for the PDF file
     
  • Password required for opening the PDF file
     
  1. Save the PDF file without a password and try to print again.
     
  2. Save the file using the "Print to file" feature of the Brother printer driver, to a USB flash drive using a PC. (To see how to use the "Print to file" feature, click here.) Then, print the document from the USB flash drive.
     
  3. Print the document directly from a computer.

 

 

 

Error Code 1031 - 1033

 

 

 

Cause Recommended solution
  • The PDF file includes an unsupported data format.
     
  1. Save the file using the "Print to file" feature of the Brother printer driver, to a USB flash drive using a PC. (To see how to use the "Print to file" feature, click here.) Then, print the document from the USB flash drive.
     
  2. Print the document directly from a computer.
     

 

 

 

Error Code 1040

 

 

 

Cause Recommended solution
  • The internal memory of the Brother machine is full.
     
  • There is an unsupported command in the file.
     
  1. Add additional memory to the machine. This may resolve the error depending on the size of the file you are trying to print.
     
  2. Save the file using the "Print to file" feature of the Brother printer driver, to a USB flash drive using a PC. (To see how to use the "Print to file" feature, click here.) Then, print the document from the USB flash drive.
     
  3. Print the document directly from a computer.

 

 

 

Error Code 1041 - 1042

  • There is an unsupported command in the file.

  • There is an unsupported command in the file.
     
  • Corrupted PDF file

  • There is an unsupported font in the file.
     
  • Corrupted PDF file
     
  • Corrupted USB memory

Error Code 1070 - 1072

  • There is an unsupported command in the file.
     
  1. Save the file using the "Print to file" feature of the Brother printer, driver to a USB flash drive using a PC. (To see how to use the "Print to file" feature, click here.) Then, print the document from the USB flash drive.
     
  2. Print the document directly from a computer.

 

 

 

Error Code 1080 - 1082

 

 

 

Cause Recommended solution
  • The PDF file is prohibited from printing with a high resolution.
     
  • The PDF file is password protected.
     
  1. You need rights to remove the restriction. If have it, please remove it, then print it from a computer.
     
  2. Remove any security lock functions and open the file on a PC. Save the file using the "Print to file" feature of the Brother printer driver, to a USB flash drive using a PC. (To see how to use the "Print to file" feature, click here.) Then, print the document from the USB flash drive.
     

 

 

 

If the problem is not solved, the file itself might be damaged.
