FAQs & Troubleshooting

Prevent unauthorized access to my Brother machine's settings.

Setting Lock lets you prevent unauthorized access to your Brother machine's settings.

When Setting Lock is on, you cannot change the following settings without a password:

  • Date and Time
  • Station I.D.
  • Quick-Dial Settings
  • Mode Timer
  • Paper Type
  • Paper Size
  • Volume
  • Auto Daylight or Daylight Save
  • Ecology
  • Tray Use
  • LCD Contrast
  • Setting Lock
  • Memory Security

When Setting Lock is on, you will not be able to schedule new Delayed Faxes or Polling jobs; however, any pre-scheduled Delayed Faxes will still be sent so you won't lose them.

 

Use the following steps to set up and use the Setting Lock feature:

SETTING UP THE PASSWORD

  1. Press MENU and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.

  2. Enter a four-digit password using numbers 0-9, *, or #.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Re-enter the password when the LCD reads "Verify."

  5. Press the OK key.

  6. Press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

TURNING SETTING LOCK ON

  1. Press MENU and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose On.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Enter your four-digit password.

  5. Press the OK key.

If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The Brother machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.
  1. Press the STOP/EXIT key.


TURNING SETTING LOCK OFF

  1. Press MENU and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.

  2. Enter your four-digit password.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Press the OK key again.
If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.


  1. Press the STOP/EXIT key.


CHANGING THE PASSWORD

  1. Press MENU and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Set Password.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Enter your four-digit password.

  5. Press the OK key.

If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.


  1. Enter a four-digit number for the new password.

  2. Press the OK key.

  3. Re-enter the new password when the LCD reads "Verify."

  4. Press the OK key.

  5. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
