The scanner cover support has come off. (With Video Instructions)
The scanner cover support is the bar for supporting the scanner cover when you lift the scanner cover to the open position.
Follow the steps listed below to resolve this issue.
NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.
Place the machine on a bright flat surface for mounting the scanner cover support.
If you place the machine on a slope, you may catch your hand under the scanner cover.

Check that the scanner cover support is not damaged.

Open the scanner cover.
Keep lifting the scanner cover and do not release your hand when mounting the scanner cover support. Be careful not to catch your hand under the scanner cover.

Here is the position to attach the cover support.

This image shows the mounting position on the left side of your Brother machine.
Make sure the flat surface of the scanner cover support is facing to the front, and the mesh-like surface of the scanner cover support is facing to the back.
Insert the round part of the scanner cover support into the machine completely as shown in the image below.

Check the inner scanner cover. There is a metal part on the left side of the inner scanner cover as shown in the image below.

Align the tip of the black rubber part of the scanner cover support into the groove at the position of the metal part.

Hold the tip of the scanner cover support, and lower the scanner cover until you hear a clicking sound.
- Check the scanner cover support is fitted into the groove. Gently close the scanner cover using the finger holds on each side.
The mounting of the scanner cover support is now complete.
