Change or delete an existing One Touch or Speed Dial number. (For users using the machine with the Internet Fax function)
You can change or delete a One Touch or Speed Dial number that has already been stored. The LCD will show the name or number, and if the number has a scheduled job, such as a delayed fax, or a fax forwarding number, it will display a message.
Please follow the steps below to change or delete a One Touch or Speed Dial number that has already been stored.

- Do one of the following:
- To change or delete a stored One Touch number, follow the steps:
- Press Menu and choose Fax => Address Book => One Touch Dial.
- Press the One Touch key you want to change or delete on the left side of the control panel.
HINT : To access numbers 9 through 16, hold Shift and press the appropriate One Touch key.
- To change or delete a stored Speed Dial number, follow the steps:
If a One Touch or Speed Dial number in the Group you are trying to change has been set to a scheduled job or a fax forwarding number, the LCD will ask you if you want to change the name or number.
- To change or delete a stored One Touch number, follow the steps:
- Do one of the following:
- To delete the stored number, follow the steps:
- Press 2 to choose Clear. The LCD will display Erase This Data?.
- Press 1 to choose Yes, and go to STEP 16.
- To change the stored name or number, press 1 to choose Change.
- To delete the stored number, follow the steps:
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose the type of number you are storing. Press OK.
You can choose one of the following:
- Fax/Tel
- IFAX
- Email Color PDF
- Email Color JPG
- Email Color XPS
- Email Gray PDF
- Email Gray JPG
- Email Gray XPS
- Email B&W PDF
- Email B&W TIFF
If the LCD does not prompt you to choose the type of number you are storing, the Internet Fax (IFAX) and E-mail options are not installed on your Brother machine. Please see the "Related FAQ's" for the further instructions on how to change or delete an existing One Touch or Speed Dial number.
- Do one of the following:
- If you want to keep the current number or e-mail address, go to STEP 5.
- If you chose Fax/Tel in STEP 3, edit or enter the fax or telephone number using the dial pad (up to 20 characters).
You can use Redial/Pause to insert a 3.5-second (for UK: 2.8-second) pause in the stored number. You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing Redial/Pause.
- If you chose E-mail or IFAX Registration Type in STEP 3, edit or enter the e-mail address using the dial pad (up to 60 characters).
To edit the stored number, press the Left or Right arrow key to position the cursor on the character you want to change, press Clear, and enter the correct character.- If you chose E-mail Registration Type in STEP 3 and stored an e-mail address on the One Touch key, you can only use the e-mail address when the Brother machine is in SCAN mode.
- If you chose IFAX Registration Type in STEP 3 and stored an e-mail address on the One Touch key, you can only use the e-mail address when the Brother machine is in FAX mode.
- If you want to keep the current number or e-mail address, go to STEP 5.
- Press OK.
- Do one of the following:
- If you want to keep the current name, go to STEP 7.
- If you want to erase one character, follow the steps:
- Press the Left or Right arrow key to position the cursor under the character you want to delete.
- Press Clear to delete the character, and enter the correct character.
You can press Clear repeatedly to erase multiple characters.
- If you want to insert a character, follow the steps:
- Press the Left or Right arrow key to position the cursor where you want to insert a new character.
- Type the character you want to insert.
- If you want to keep the current name, go to STEP 7.
- Press OK.
- Do one of the following:
- If you want to keep the current fax/scan resolution, go to STEP 15.
- If you want to save a fax/scan resolution along with the number, go to the appropriate step as shown in the following table:

When you do a broadcast and you have saved a scan profile along with the number or email address, the scan profile of the One Touch, Speed Dial or Group number you choose first will be applied to the broadcast. - If you want to keep the current fax/scan resolution, go to STEP 15.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Std, Fine, S.Fine or Photo. Press OK and go to STEP 16.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Std, Fine or Photo. Press OK and go to STEP 16.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose 100dpi, 200dpi, 300dpi, 600dpi or Auto. Press OK.
- If you chose Email Color PDF, go to STEP 14.
- If you chose Email Color JPG or Email Color XPS, go to STEP 16.
- If you chose Email Color PDF, go to STEP 14.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose 100dpi, 200dpi, 300dpi or Auto. Press OK.
- If you chose Email Gray PDF, go to STEP 14.
- If you chose Email Gray JPG or Email Gray XPS, go to STEP 16.
- If you chose Email Gray PDF, go to STEP 14.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose 300dpi, 200dpi or 200x100dpi. Press OK.
- If you chose Email B&W PDF, go to STEP 14.
- If you chose Email B&W TIFF, go to STEP 16.
- If you chose Email B&W PDF, go to STEP 14.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose the PDF type from PDF, PDF/A, SPDF (Secure PDF) or SiPDF (Signed PDF) that will be used to send to your computer.
If you choose SPDF (Secure PDF), the machine will ask you to enter a four-digit password using the numbers 0-9 before it starts scanning. - Press OK.
- Do one of the following:
- To change or delete another One Touch number, repeat STEPS 1-b through 15.
- To change or delete another Speed Dial number, repeat STEPS 1-b through 15.
- To finish changing or deleting One Touch or Speed Dial number, press Stop/Exit.
- To change or delete another One Touch number, repeat STEPS 1-b through 15.
