Set up an outgoing message for Fax/Tel Mode.

When you are using Fax/Tel Mode, you can program your machine to play an outgoing message (OGM) explaining how Fax/Tel Mode works.

Callers will not be able to leave voice messages when you are using Fax/Tel Mode.

To program the Fax/Tel OGM, follow these steps:

  1. Press the MENU key.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Fax.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Setup Msg Ctr or Setup TAD.

  5. Press the OK key.

  6. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select OGM.

  7. Press the OK key.

  8. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select F/T OGM or F/T Message.

  9. Press the OK key.

  10. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Record OGM or Record MSG.

  11. Press the OK key.

  12. Record your outgoing message:

    • If your Brother machine has Digital Cordless Handset (DECT™ Handset), speak clearly toward the microphone microphone on the control panel to record your message. Press STOP/EXIT when finished recording your message. The Message Center (TAD) will play back your outgoing message.

    • If not, pickup the handset and record your message. Replace the handset when finished recording your message. The Message Center (TAD) will play back your outgoing message.

For example, "You have reached [your telephone number]. If I am home, I will answer your call in a moment. If you are sending a manual fax, press *51 (*91 for New Zealand), and Start on your fax machine."

Your outgoing message should be less than 20 seconds long.

  13. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
