FAQs & Troubleshooting |
I'm having problems sending a fax overseas. What can I do?
If you are having difficulty sending a fax overseas due to possible interference on the telephone line, setting your Brother machine's Compatibility to Basic may help.
To change your Brother machine's Compatibility setting, follow these steps:
-
Press MENU and choose Initial Setup => Compatibility.
-
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Basic (for VoIP).
-
Press the OK key.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
If you are still having problems sending overseas after setting Compatibility to Basic (for VoIP), try turning on your Brother machine's Overseas Mode.
Overseas Mode is a temporary setting, and will only be active for the next fax you send.
To turn Overseas Mode on, follow these steps:
-
Press the FAX key to illuminate it.
-
Place the document(s) you want to send into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face down, top edge first until you feel it touch the roller.
-
You should position your document(s) underneath the output tray formed by the paper guides, directly on top of the flatbed cover. When your document(s) feed through the ADF, they will be ejected on top of the paper guides.
- After you put your document(s) in the ADF, the Brother machine's LCD screen should display "ADF Ready" for a few seconds and then display the fax-sending Options.
