The toner does not fix to paper well. (Poor fixing)

Poor fixing

Please check the following points:

Step 1:

  1. Check that you use the paper that meets our specification.
    Please refer to "What is the recommended paper?".

  2. Check that the drum units and toner cartridges are installed properly.
    Please refer to the instructions, "How do I replace a drum unit?" and "How do I replace the toner cartridge?".
    If you still have a print quality problem, please go to the Step 2.

Step 2:

  1. Make sure that two gray levers inside the back cover, one on the left-hand side and one on the right-hand side, are in the up position.

    The two gray levers are in the up position.

  2. Make sure that the media type settings in the printer driver and in the machine's Paper Type menu matches the type of paper you are using.

  3. Choose Improve Toner Fixing mode in the printer driver as follows.
    If this selection does not provide enough improvement, select Thicker paper in Media Type settings.

    NOTE: Illustrations shown below may vary depending on your Operating System (OS).

    For Windows printer driver:
    1. Open the Printing Preferences dialog box and click Advanced tab.
    2. Click on Other Print Options.
    3. Select "Improve Print Output" for Printer Function and select "Improve Toner Fixing" for Improve Print Output.
      Click on OK.

    For Windows BR-Script printer driver:
    1. Open the Printing Preferences dialog box and click on Advanced.
    2. Select "Improve Toner Fixing" for Improve Print Output.
      Click on OK.

    For Macintosh printer driver:
    1. Open Print dialog. (Click here to see the details of how to open Print dialog.)
    2. Click Advanced tab in the Print Settings list.
    3. Click on Improve Print Output.

    4. Select "Improve Toner Fixing" for Improve Print Output.
      Click on OK.

    For Macintosh BR-Script printer driver:

    1. Open Print dialog. (Click here to see the details of how to open Print dialog.)
    2. Select "Set 3" for Feature Sets in the Printer Features list.
    3. Select "Improve Toner Fixing" for Improve Print Output.

    2. Select "General 2" for Feature Sets in the Printer Features list.
