The toner does not fix to paper well. How do I improve the toner fixing? (poor fixing)

To solve this issue, please follow the steps below.

 

Step 1:
Make sure that the gray levers inside the back cover are in the up position as follows:

  1. Open the back cover of the printer.
    Open Back Cover

     

  2. Check the both gray levers inside the back cover are the up position.
    If not: one gray lever is the up position and another is the envelope position or the both grey levers are the envelope position, please change the position to the up one.

  3. Close the back cover and then try to print again.

    If you print the envelope or thicker paper, change the both lever position to the envelope one, and then try to print again with the back cover opened.

Step 2:
Make sure that the media type setting in the printer driver matches the type of paper you are using.

If not, select the appropriate media type and then try to print again.

 

Step 3:
Select the "Improve Toner Fixing" from the printer driver and try to print again.
The instruction varies depending on your Operating System (OS). Select your OS and follow the instructions.
Windows | Macintosh


For Windows users:

The screens are from Windows XP. The screens on your computer may vary depending on your operating system.

  1. Open Printing Preferences. (Click here to see how to open Printing Preferences.)
     
  2. Open the Advanced tab and click the "Other Print Options".

  3. Select "Improve Print Output" and then select "Improve Toner Fixing".

  4. Click OK.
    The setting has been changed. Print from the application as usual.

  2. Open the Layout tab and click the Advanced.

  3. Select "Improve Toner Fixing" in the Improve Print Output of the Printer Features.

  4. Click OK.
    The setting has been changed. Print from the application as usual.

 

For Macintosh users:

  2. [Mac OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4.x users]

     

    1. Select the "Print Settings" option from the pop-up menu under the Presets.
       
    2. Click Advanced and then click the "Improve Print Output".

    1. Select the "Print Settings" option from the print options pop-up menu.
       
    2. Click Advanced and then click the "Improve Print Output".

  3. Select "Improve Toner Fixing" and click OK.

  4. Click Print.

    1. Select the "Printer Features" option from the pop-up menu under the Presets.
       
    2. Select "Set 3" in the Feature Sets.
       
    3. Select "Improve Toner Fixing" in the Improve Print Output.

    1. Select the "Printer Features" option from the print options pop-up menu.
       
    2. Select "General 2" in the Feature Sets.
       
    3. Select "Improve Toner Fixing" in the Improve Print Output.

  3. Click Print.
